Who we are

Anchor is operated by Noah Nothman from Utah, United States. Anchor is an independent product and is not affiliated with any school, clinic or health system.

What we store

• Your account: email address and password credentials, handled by our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address.
• Your journal: the answers you write, the mood and emotional weather you select, goals and sub-goals you choose, obstacles and coping strategies you tick, saved memories and anchor moments, and the reflections Anchor writes back to you.
• Your settings: display name, focus areas, conversation mode and reminder preference.
• Basic technical data: standard server request information needed to run and secure the site.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your journal entries or personal data.
• We do not use your journal entries for advertising or ad targeting.
• We do not share your entries with schools, employers, insurers or family members.
• We do not publish quotes from your journal. Any testimonial on this site is written and approved separately by the person who gave it.

Who can see your entries

Your data is protected by per-account database rules, so one account cannot read another's entries. The site owner has an aggregate analytics view that reports counts and trends only — it excludes journal text, reflections, memory contents and email addresses.

A very small number of people with administrative access to the underlying infrastructure could technically access stored data during maintenance or a security investigation. We treat that access as a last resort, not a routine.

AI reflections

When you ask Anchor to reflect, the text of that answer and a little context (your selected goals, mood and any obstacles or coping strategies you ticked) are sent to an AI model provider to generate a response. Your email address and account identifier are not included in that request. Full detail is on the Data and AI page.

Service providers we rely on

• Database, authentication and hosting infrastructure that stores your account and entries.
• An AI gateway that routes reflection requests to a large language model.
• Email delivery for verification and password-reset messages.

How long we keep things

We keep your journal for as long as your account exists, because the point is to be able to look back. When you delete your account, your entries, reflections, memories, goals and login are removed from our live systems. Routine encrypted backups may retain copies for a short period before they roll off.

Your choices

• Export: download everything we hold for you as one file from My data.
• Delete: permanently remove your account and journal from the same page.
• Correct: edit your name, focus areas and preferences in Settings at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data. Deletion and export are available to everyone, without needing to ask.

Children

Anchor is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please read our Terms of Use and talk with a trusted adult about using tools like this.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with per-account access rules. No online service can promise perfect security, so we aim for honesty rather than absolutes.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your journal is handled, we will update the date at the top of this page.
